Six Indian sailors have been stranded at Pakistan’s Karachi port for nearly seven months. It is being reported that the vessel has been detained due to a dispute between the Iranian shipping company and the Karachi Port authorities. This includes Vineet Kishore Mishra, a resident of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. He works as a chief officer in a ship. His family says the ship has been detained at Karachi port since 17 April 2026. All six Indians have been stuck there since then.

According to the family, the ship has no electricity and mobile network is also not working. Due to this it is very difficult to contact the people present on the ship. The family has also alleged that the passports and C-Books of the six Indians, i.e. documents used to work on ships at sea, have been confiscated. Vineet’s scheduled time for work is also over, but he is not being allowed to disembark the ship and come to India.

Vineet has been working in merchant navy for 10 years.

Vineet has been working in Merchant Navy for almost 10 years. According to the family, he started working for a company in Iran on 25 February 2026. After this he went to Oman in a company ship. The ship reached Karachi port on 17 April. Here there was a dispute between the company and the port authorities, after which the ship was stopped. The family alleged that after this the ship’s electricity was cut off and the passports of the Indian crew were also taken away.

A wife, two children and a retired Army father await

Vineet’s wife Neha Mishra and father Lalit Kishore Mishra are making continuous efforts for his safe return. His father is retired from the Army. Vineet’s two young children are also waiting for their father to return home. The family says they cannot talk to Vineet every day due to lack of network. Sometimes we can only talk on the phone for a few minutes. Due to which the family is worried about their safety and health.

The family sought help from the government

Vineet’s wife and family have contacted the Indian diplomatic mission in Pakistan. He has sought help to bring back the six Indians safely. According to the family, a letter was written to the Indian Embassy and assured of help, but no solution has been found yet.

The family has appealed to the Prime Minister, the President and the Ministry of External Affairs for immediate intervention. He has also sought help from MLA and MP of his area. The family’s question is why the six Indians are suffering because of the dispute between the company and the port authorities? When will they be allowed to return to India?
