Trump said – we can attack
After the attack, US President Donald Trump said that the US is considering joining Saudi Arabia’s military operation against the Houthis. Trump said, ‘We can do this. We have just received information about the attack. We will take a decision soon. A military coalition led by Saudi Arabia called it a war crime and warned of retaliation. However, the Houthis did not immediately make a statement regarding this latest attack.
Airport closed, flights diverted to other cities
Flights were suspended at the airport on Saturday following the attack. All roads were closed and a large number of policemen were deployed. The surrounding lights also dimmed. According to Flightradar24, several planes were diverted to other airports. America, Britain, Germany, Australia and Canada have advised their citizens to stay away from airports.
Multiple attacks in one week
Earlier, the Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack on the airport. In which 3 Saudi citizens including a pilot were killed. In the last one week, other airports, military bases and oil fields in Saudi Arabia have also been attacked. The attacks escalated when Saudi Arabia’s military coalition launched a major offensive against the Houthis.
The Houthis on Saturday alleged that Saudi Arabia had attacked the airport in Sana’a, the capital of Yemen. Saudi Arabia has so far been trying to avoid a major war with the Houthis. But after the latest attack, the pressure to seek military help from the US may increase. This could also give Iran an opportunity to put pressure on US ally Saudi Arabia.
