The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has informed through a post on social media that pensioners can now avail the ‘doorstep service’ to submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) or ‘Jiwan Praam Patra’. The official account of EPFO on social media platform ‘X’ (earlier known as Twitter) wrote, “Pensioners, now you don’t have to go out! To avail Digital Life Certificate (DLC) service at home, call India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). Your convenience, at your doorstep! The last date for pensioners to submit their annual life certificate through biometric authentication, doorstep banking service or by visiting the respective bank branch is 30th November.

How to call for Doorstep DLC service?

EPFO has authorized the postal department to provide a doorstep DLC service through which pensioners can submit their annual certificate at home within the deadline. According to the official website of India Post, the Department of Posts (DoP) is able to deliver services to the doorsteps of pensioners using the extensive network of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). It provides facility to generate DLC (Digital Life Certificate) for pensioners by connecting with application developed and managed by National Informatics Center (NIC).

How you can benefit

  • Pensioners can call 033-22029000 and request a postman or rural postal worker to call them at their home.
  • This service is available to both IPPB and non-IPPB customers (those who are not IPPB customers).
  • On completion of the process, a ‘Praman ID’ is generated, which the NIC shares directly with the pensioner.
  • Once the ‘Proof ID’ is generated, pensioners can download their DLC through the link.
  • Whenever the DLC is successfully generated, a nominal fee of Rs.70 (inclusive of GST/CESS) will be charged.

No additional ‘doorstep charge’ will be levied from IPPB or non-IPPB customers for issuance of DLC. It may be noted that as per the India Post website, the facility of doorstep banking is available to all pensioners whose pension paying agency is active (live) on DLC. List of sanctioning authorities and pension granting agencies is available here —

What is a Life Certificate?

Life Certificate is a government facility, which allows pensioners to submit their annual life certificate electronically. This certificate is a proof that the pensioner is alive, and it helps the pension paying authority to continue paying the pension.

How to check life certificate status?

Production of certificate does not mean that it has been accepted by the pension paying authority. Therefore, after submitting the certificate, pensioners must check its status.

For this, you can visit the official ‘Jeevan Praman’ portal (jeevanpramaan.gov.in) and using the services available there, you can view your DLC (Digital Jeevan Certificate) through your ‘Praman ID’. If the certificate is rejected or its status is unclear, the pensioner should approach his bank or pension paying authority to resolve the issue.
