CD Projekt RED’s latest Cyberpunk 2077 update is drawing complaints from Nintendo Switch 2 players who report crashes, loading failures and performance problems following the release of version 2.5. Some players have described the game as unplayable, although the reported issues do not affect every user.
The update, titled Edgerunners 2, launched to connect the game with the new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime series on Netflix. While the patch introduces new content and customization features, its arrival on Nintendo’s console has been marred by reports of technical problems.
Cyberpunk 2077 Players Report Crashes After Update 2.5
According to reports highlighted by iXBT Games and Nintendo Life, some Switch 2 owners have encountered unexpected game crashes, problems loading the game and reduced performance after installing the update.
Players have also reported issues involving user profiles and saved games. The reports suggest that the experience varies between users, with some encountering more serious problems than others.
The complaints are particularly frustrating for players who expected the update to provide a fresh reason to return to Night City. Technical instability can interrupt gameplay and raise concerns about save reliability, especially for those with lengthy playthroughs.
What Does the Edgerunners 2 Update Add?
Update 2.5 introduces content inspired by the Netflix anime, alongside several gameplay and customization changes. CD Projekt RED released the update for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 22, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following later.
One of the main additions is a new side quest called Clampdown, set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Players can also obtain a five-piece gear set inspired by the character King and listen to music from the anime through a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM.
The update also introduces cross-platform mod support through Mod.io, giving players a way to browse and install supported community-created modifications from the game’s interface. Additional features include new cyberware customization options, dual-wielding pistols and revolvers, and a field-of-view slider on consoles.
Nintendo Switch 2 Version Faces Questions Over Stability
The Switch 2 release arrived after the update was made available on other platforms, with additional development work required before its launch. The subsequent reports of crashes and loading problems have raised questions about how well the new version performs on Nintendo’s hardware.
Nintendo Life reported that it had also encountered crashes while examining the updated game. As of its October 28 report, the publication had not confirmed a fix or an official response from CD Projekt RED addressing the newly reported problems.
Will CD Projekt RED Release a Fix?
CD Projekt RED’s official support website lists technical assistance for Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2, including guidance for crashes, performance problems and clearing the console’s cache. However, the available reports do not establish a release date for a dedicated fix addressing the latest complaints.
Players experiencing problems can check the game’s official support page for troubleshooting instructions and monitor the developer’s official channels for patch announcements.
