US President Donald Trump has appealed to the people of Israel to re-elect Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump said that the two leaders must end the war that has started against Iran. His statement came two days before the elections to be held in Israel on October 27. A few hours before this, Netanyahu posted a picture made by AI on social media. It showed a nuclear explosion over the city of Tel Aviv.
Trump re-shared a post he wrote in support of Netanyahu a week ago on his social media platform Truth Social. He said that the two leaders have good relations and have undertaken many military operations together. Trump mentioned US military operations in Venezuela, Operation Midnight Hammer and Operation Epic Fury. He claimed that Iran’s navy and air force had been destroyed due to this action. According to Trump, Iran’s army and economy have also suffered and inflation has reached 301%.
Netanyahu posted a photo of a nuclear attack
Netanyahu shared an AI-generated photo on Sunday, showing a nuclear explosion over Tel Aviv. He warned that if the people did not elect him, Israel could be in danger of a massive genocide of the Jews, a second Holocaust. He said there is limited time to act against Iran during Trump’s presidency. However, Netanyahu has previously claimed that the US and Israel have greatly damaged Iran’s nuclear program.
There are also reports of tension between Israeli army chief Eyal Zamir and Netanyahu. According to Channel 12, Zamir has asked for further discussion on the written documents regarding the possible military action order and its legal approval before the elections. Full details of the proceedings have not been released. Trump asked Israelis to see Netanyahu as a strong prime minister and vote for him.
The war started 8 months ago
Israel and the US launched a joint operation against Iran on February 28. Due to this war, the price of oil has increased. There have also been reports of falling support for Trump’s Republican Party ahead of next month’s US midterm elections. In June, the US and Iran reached an agreement to end the war, but talks broke down after accusations from both sides. Now Iran wants talks again. On Sunday, Qatari mediators arrived in Tehran in an effort to ease tensions.
